The response of the United States to communism after World War II was repungent. The term “repungent” is appropriate because the statement is false. It’s important to understand this was a time where people were fearing the actions between countries and angry with the decisions of the countries that had a role in the Cold War. It is in human nature for humans to set up rules because whoever sets the rules have the power to bend any truth in their favor and control others. They’re above the law. These emotions were directed, mostly, at the threat of nuclear war. After analyzing the documents, I see negative impacts on historical themes: culture and politics.
Firstly, how WWII contributed to the Cold War affected culture in a negative way due to U.S.’s misunderstanding and U.S.’s bribery. For instance, in source #2, states, “…the Long Telegram…suggested…Soviets were expansionists…and the spread of communism”. In addition, it states, “…Soviet Union refused to sign…agreements…dictated…USSR…to revel their…situation…”. This allows us to see, that the misunderstanding of the telemarketer’s suggestion as to what the Soviets meant led to the U.S. to make catastrophic decisions & the the U.S.’s practice of bribery can destroy or further alienate relationships between countries.
However, some may feel the response if the United States to communism after World War II affected politics and culture in a positive way. He or she may be focusing only on the U.S. giving other countries money. However, the evidence in the text shows this was not completely true. In source #4, it discuses how the U.S. participated in shady activities such as giving one portion of a country money as long as they agree to take on their government which causes an uproar within the country due to differences in government statuses.
In conclusion, the evidence strongly supports continuity in history. Based on the facts, the response of the U.S. to communism after WWII continue as it relates to culture. For example, President Trump’s response to any political or cultural situation is always outrageous and extreme. One appropriate example would be the whole ordeal with Trump and the North Korean dictator. It helps us to understand the present because it teaches us how not to respond to these situations. Perhaps people should think before they speak (twice), get a 2nd opinion, and make sure you are correctly informed because the opposite can lead to disastrous things for others like innocent bystanders.
Great Work! Your work made me feel compelled to read it. You did a very good job of grabbing your readers attention. The sentence that stuck out the most to me was when you stated, “For example, President Trump’s response to nay political or cultural situation is always outrageous and extreme.” I chose this sentence because you took something from the past and related it to something today. Overall, I rate your work a 3/3! You followed all guidelines of the assignment. Also, could you explain as to what made you choose to use that picture?
Thank you for commenting on my work!
[Extra Credit] Wonderful Work!!!! I rate this a 3 out of 3. The sentence I focus on is ” This allows us to see, that the misunderstanding of the telemarketer’s suggestion as to what the Soviets meant led to the U.S. to make catastrophic decisions & the U.S.’s practice of bribery can destroy or further alienate relationships between countries”. This grabs my attention because I agreed with some of the things you said. This made me feel good because I could understand everything and I learn some new thing in the process. But I would focus on some of your sentences in the future and spelling. My question is what does your picture means and how does it relate to your post?
